Rafael got his diploma on Physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2011. In the same year he was granted with an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to participate in the Optics in Science and Technology (OpSciTech) Master Program. He attended courses in the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) on his first year and Institut d’Optique Graduate School (France) on the second. He graduated presenting the project Hybrid Imaging by Wavefront Coding.
Currently he is a fellow PhD candidate of the ADOPSYS project, participating with the thesis Computational Imaging for 3D Measurements in Industrial Inspection and Metrology, back at the Institut d’Optique and with cooperation of the Technical University of Delft (Netherlands) and KLA Tencor (Belgium). The scope of the thesis is to explore different depth estimation techniques, characterize them and pick the most efficient one for particular industrial or scientific uses.
